Forthees’ Matcha RICH is a blend of saemidori (さえみどり) and tsuyuhikari (つゆひかり) cultivars. The matcha has a rounded flavour but complex, subtle when compared to the umami-bomb matcha of the famous Uji area.
Matcha RICH must be rich in saponins, because the foam is thick and tenacious. In the aroma we find: peanuts, edamame, cottage cheese, and toasted hazelnut. This tea unironically showcases a rich browned butter flavour which is almost salty – avocado creaminess, chevre tang (fresh goat’s cheese), lingering soy milk sweetness, notes of watermelon rind and wakame seaweed.
A remarkably full aftertaste which hangs onto its strong creaminess. No bitterness or astringency to speak of. This matcha is easily accessible to a beginner, yet intricate enough for a veteran to thoroughly enjoy.
